Sophomore Course Outline:
The physical education program for sophomores places major emphasis on teamwork. The class encourages students to work together to achieve victory. Although a team has to lose, there are no losers in these gym classes. The games that the students play are football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, dodge ball, kickball, and lacrosse.

The health portion of the class for freshmen deals with food and nutrition. Students learn what types of food are good or bad for the body, how the different things in food are broken down in the body, and what food does for the body. The food chart is also studied and discussed. The fresmen classes also study the integumentary, skeletal and muscular system.

Course Goal and Objectives:
The goal of the Preparatory Charter School, Health and Physical Education curriculum is to help students engage in patterns of behavior that will assist in achieving and maintaining good health. Students will accomplish this by having a balance of physical, mental, social, and emotional well being. This course is designed to offer students the opportunity to acquire knowledge, develop life skills and positive attitudes about life. Development of a healthy body and mind will assist young people in living active, productive and successful lives.

All Sections and Grades:
All students are required to wear navy blue sweat pants or shorts and a navy blue Prep Charter gym shirt. Every student who takes physical education will go through strength and conditioning testing. The strength and conditioning tests consist of running a mile in 15 minutes, completing a certain number of push-ups and sit-ups in a certain length of time, and completing a specific number of pull-ups.
