11th Grade - English III
Mr. Thomas L. SackMs. Justine Philyaw
Course Introduction:
English III is a standards-based course which includes reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Students read a variety of genres, with most of the literature set in the twentieth century; and they work for mastery of two specific writing formats: the single-paragraph constructed reponse to a literature sample and the five-paragrah essay in response to a prompt. Grammar lessons are imbedded in the curriculum, as well.

Goals and Objectives:
By the end of their junior year at Prep Charter, students are expected to perform successfully and demonstrate proficiency on three crucial assessments: the PSSA, the SAT, and the placement test at the Community College of Philadelphia. Prior to entering the eleventh grade, students are expected to have completed their summer reading assignments.
