INTRODUCTION:
National Honor Society is a service organization that operates under the direction of the National Association of Secondary School Principals. The four fundamentals of NHS are scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The local chapter at Prep Charter began in the spring of 2001. Students with an overall academic average of 90% that demonstrate commitment to community service and leadership can qualify for membership. New members are chosen from the sophomore and junior classes each spring. Currently, National Honor Society sponsors a peer tutoring program, a big brother/sister program, and an assembly for underclassmen that teaches academic organization and success skills. Throughout the year, NHS will be involved in various community projects. NHS often works closely with student council on service and fundraising projects.
