Student Council
MODERATOR: Justine Philyaw
Introduction:
The purpose of the Prep Charter Student Council is to give students a more active role in the school
community. Student Council fosters the growth of leaders from all grades; it provides students with
opportunities to represent their peers and their school. Student leaders help keep their peers informed
of various news and events in the school and build school spirit through their example and enthusiasm.
Student Council sponsors various school events including the Welcome Back Breakfasts, seasonal Pep Rallies (in conjunction with the Athletic Department), a monthly Film Series, a Fall Food Drive, a holiday Volleyball Tournament, two annual Blood Drives (in conjunction with the American Red Cross), Valentines’ Day candy-grams and Spirit Week that culminates with International Day. In addition, during basketball season, we sponsor Alex's Lemonade Stand, a local charity that raises money for pediatric cancer research.
Student Council elections are held in May for the following school year. Any student who meets the academic and behavior standards may run to be an officer or a class representative.
